Cryptocurrency and AI Industries Pour Millions into U.S. Midterm Elections

The U.S. midterm elections are just around the corner, and the cryptocurrency and AI industries are making their presence felt with a significant influx of funds. According to recent reports, these sectors have collectively raised approximately $250 million to support congressional candidates.

One notable example is the Super PAC 'Leading The Future,' which supports AI-friendly candidates. This organization has received significant donations from billionaires, including OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman, and has also benefited from contributions from 'dark money' nonprofits, which do not disclose donors. When these figures are included, the total amount raised by this group rises to around $140 million.

Meanwhile, the largest Super PAC in the crypto industry, Fairshake, has independently raised over $134 million. Some prominent individuals have also made notable donations, including a $1.6 million contribution from Elon Musk to his America PAC and a $20 million pledge from Anthropic to the nonprofit Public First Action, which has redirected some funds to Super PACs.
