New Hampshire Targets Cryptocurrency ATM Scams with Strict Regulations
State lawmakers in New Hampshire are taking steps to protect residents from falling victim to cryptocurrency ATM scams, which have caused substantial financial losses. According to officials, these scams have resulted in over $22 million in losses for New Hampshire residents in 2024.
The proposed legislation imposes strict requirements on cryptocurrency ATM operators, including a maximum daily deposit limit of $2,000 per individual and a 48-hour hold on initial deposits to prevent fraudulent transactions. Operators would also be required to issue refunds to victims who report fraud within 14 days.
