Morgan Stanley Launches Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio
Morgan Stanley, one of the world's largest investment banks, has launched a new stablecoin reserves portfolio as part of its digital asset strategy. This move allows stablecoin issuers to park their reserves in one of the bank's money market funds, earning interest in the process.
The offering is open to other investors, not just stablecoin issuers, with a minimum investment requirement of $10 million and a 0.15% management fee. The money market fund invests in cash, US Treasury securities with maturities of 93 days or less, and overnight repurchase agreements backed by Treasury securities.
Morgan Stanley is one of several Wall Street firms to aggressively push into the crypto market recently, driven by rising institutional client demand. This move follows the bank's launch of its Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust in April and its filing for a national trust banking charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
