Blockchain.com Expands Cayman Operations with New Office and Hiring Spree
Blockchain.com is expanding its operations in the Cayman Islands, setting up an office in Camana Bay and hiring its first local employee. The company will partner with TechCayman to leverage special government frameworks that help international companies establish a presence on the island.
The move marks a significant milestone for Blockchain.com, which has been actively involved in the Cayman digital asset scene since January. In that month, it received conditional approval for a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licence from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
'One of the aims of the VASP Act was to make Cayman a hub for regulated digital assets,' said Michael Bacina, deputy chair of the Blockchain Association of the Cayman Islands. 'Building an ecosystem with real players present encourages even more businesses to Cayman and helps lift up the jurisdiction.'
Blockchain.com is one of the largest cryptocurrency companies to establish a physical presence on the island, having supported over 95 million wallets, 43 million verified users, and approximately $1 trillion in crypto transactions since its inception in 2011.
