Trump Meets with Senators on Stalled Crypto Bill Ahead of Recess
US senators will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday to discuss the stalled CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at establishing a federal market structure for digital assets.
The legislation would divide oversight responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, but lawmakers are struggling to resolve an ethics provision addressing Trump's business interests in the crypto industry.
Senate Democrats have made this measure a condition for supporting the bill, which will need Democratic votes to clear the chamber's 60-vote threshold.
The White House meeting comes after Trump called on the Senate to advance the CLARITY Act, increasing pressure on lawmakers to resolve the remaining disagreements before the August recess.
