The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has launched a major initiative to promote the use of Bitcoin as a tool for financial freedom. Through its Bitcoin Development Fund, HRF will provide 1.5 billion satoshis in grants to support projects focused on improving Bitcoin's infrastructure, enhancing privacy features, and increasing education about the cryptocurrency.
According to HRF, these efforts are crucial in supporting dissidents operating under authoritarian regimes where access to open financial networks and uncensorable payment rails is often restricted or surveilled. The foundation estimates that its work can benefit billions of people living in such environments.
