Hougan Pinpoints Top Crypto Investments for Next Bull Market

Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan believes that the next crypto bull market is near and will be driven by the integration of blockchain technology with traditional finance. Two investment categories stand out as potential winners: the 'Hyperliquid Lane' and the 'Robinhood Lane.'

The Hyperliquid Lane consists of crypto financial applications generating meaningful revenues while directly linking token value to platform activity through strong tokenomics. Hougan pointed to Hyperliquid, a protocol that has surpassed $1 billion in lifetime revenue and is on pace to generate about $800 million this year. The protocol's token model involves 99% of revenue being used to buy back HYPE tokens on the open market, reducing supply.

The Robinhood Lane includes existing companies actively building financial services on blockchain infrastructure rather than limiting themselves to pilot projects. Hougan cited Robinhood's launch of its Layer 2 blockchain as an example, which accumulated over $300 million in deposits and processed 3.6 million daily transactions within two weeks of launch.

Hougan expects more crypto projects to adopt similar tokenomics and for companies experimenting with crypto at real scale to outperform those conducting small proof-of-concept projects.
