Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has joined Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and cryptocurrency exchange OKX in a joint venture. The partnership aims to develop tokenized assets, digital asset derivatives, and around-the-clock trading infrastructure.
Cuomo will co-chair the new venture alongside ICE and OKX. 'It's now a different role for me with OKX,' Cuomo said, adding that he believes the company is at the forefront of innovation.
The project plans to move quickly to obtain regulatory approvals to operate as a futures commission merchant and broker-dealer. Cuomo expressed confidence in the partnership's potential for public service, stating 'The technology is here, it's not going back in a box ... use it, innovate, and thrive or stagnate and die.'
Cuomo emphasized his familiarity with OKX, saying he knows the company well and its operations.
