Ripple Ex-CTO Challenges 'No-Freeze' Stablecoin Concept
Ripple's former CTO, David Schwartz, has expressed skepticism about the concept of a 'no-freeze' stablecoin, recently proposed by Columbia Business School professor Omid Malekan.
Malekan predicts that this approach will be a game-changer in the stablecoin market, allowing issuers to differentiate themselves and gain significant market share. However, Schwartz argues that this idea is flawed, as it would not address the fundamental issue of legal obligations.
The debate centers around the idea of a stablecoin issuer refusing to intervene or freeze assets, even if ordered by a court. According to Malekan, this approach would appeal to decentralized finance (DeFi) users and potentially gain massive market share.
