Russia Enhances Crypto Mining Oversight with IP Address Disclosure

Russia's regulatory environment for cryptocurrency mining has become more stringent with the introduction of new IP tracking rules. The enhanced technical reporting requirements will enable authorities to track electricity usage and internet traffic associated with registered crypto mining farms.

The Federal Tax Service will utilize the updated registry to monitor compliance, assess risks, and enforce regulations. Registered operators are now required to submit technical network information in addition to business registration details. This move aims to improve transparency and support the identification of unregistered mining operations.

The measures follow ongoing government concerns regarding illegal mining activity and pressure on energy infrastructure. Operators that violate registry requirements or submit inaccurate information may face removal from the registry.
