Regulated Perpetual Crypto Futures Now Available to US Investors
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and prediction markets platform Kalshi have made a significant move in the financial derivatives market by introducing regulated perpetual crypto futures to US investors.
This marks the first time such instruments will be available through domestic, regulated exchanges. Perpetual futures are derivatives that lack a traditional expiration date, allowing traders to maintain positions indefinitely without the need to roll over contracts.
The high degrees of leverage offered by these instruments enable investors to amplify their exposure to market moves. The move follows Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) listing approval for Coinbase and Kalshi, effectively transitioning perpetual futures from a regulatory gray area into the oversight of domestic exchanges.
