Ireland Seizes Additional 500 Bitcoin, Brings Yearly Total to 1,500

Ireland's Criminal Assets Bureau has seized another 500 Bitcoin in collaboration with the European Cybercrime Centre, bringing this year's total to 1,500. The newly confiscated cryptocurrency is worth approximately $30.9 million at current prices.

The bureau confirmed that the 1,500 Bitcoin seized this year are valued at around $92.4 million. Europol provided operational coordination and technical support during the investigation, but further details were not disclosed.

Arkham, an on-chain analytics platform, reported that 500 Bitcoin moved from a wallet linked to convicted drug trafficker Clifton Collins to an unknown address. Collins is known to have purchased 6,000 Bitcoin with illicit proceeds between late 2011 and early 2012, storing them across 12 wallets.

Wallets tied to Collins still hold approximately 4,500 Bitcoin, worth around $277 million at current prices. The exact link between the latest seizure and Collins remains unclear.
