TON Blockchain Achieves Sub-Second Finality with Catchain 2.0 Upgrade
The Open Network (TON) has successfully upgraded its blockchain to achieve sub-second finality, significantly enhancing the speed of transaction settlement on the network.
According to an announcement made by TON, the Catchain 2.0 consensus upgrade reduces block times to 400 milliseconds, which is a substantial improvement from previous speeds. This enables faster settlement of payment transactions and trades in 'real-time,' making decentralized applications (dApps) comparable to traditional apps.
The update also increases validator rewards, as more blocks are added to the chain, resulting in stronger staking incentives and bringing more TON into the network.
