According to data from DefiLlama, this marks the worst month since February 2025, when a massive breach at Bybit resulted in $1.4 billion in losses. The current surge is largely attributed to two significant attacks on KelpDAO and Drift Protocol, which together account for 95% of April's losses.

The impact of these hacks extends beyond the direct financial losses, with DeFi's total value locked (TVL) experiencing a decline of over 7% in the past 24 hours. Aave's TVL dropped from $26.4 billion to near $17.9 billion, while other protocols are also feeling the effects.
