Crypto Malware Steals $220k from Steam Users Through Infected Games

The FBI is investigating a case of crypto malware infecting eight Steam games, potentially affecting around 8,000 devices and stealing at least $220,000 from crypto wallets.

The alleged attack chain began with bots identifying individuals with large crypto holdings on platforms like Discord, Telegram, X, and LinkedIn. The scammers then sent targeted messages encouraging these users to download the infected games.

Once installed, the malware allegedly captured private data and credentials, allowing the attackers to trick victims into authorizing transactions that emptied their wallets.

The FBI has arrested 21-year-old Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins in connection with the alleged scheme. The complaint states that the group promoted the games on various platforms and discussed using malware to steal crypto wallet information.
