Coinbase has made history by becoming the first major exchange to bring its premium data on-chain through a partnership with Chainlink.

This integration marks a significant milestone in the development of decentralized finance (DeFi) markets, allowing DeFi developers to tap into institutional-grade datasets. The datasets include order book data, spot prices, perpetual futures data, and E-mini futures data, providing a comprehensive view of market activity.

According to Chainlink Labs' Chief Business Officer Johann Eid, this move sends a clear signal about the future of finance, building programmable market infrastructure that accelerates the convergence of institutional finance and DeFi. Coinbase's Vice President Liz Martin noted that the Chainlink data standard is battle-tested institutional-grade infrastructure, making it the clear choice for bringing Coinbase's market data into on-chain markets.
