Senate Cloture Vote Looms for CLARITY Act as Recess Deadline Approaches

The fate of the CLARITY Act hangs in the balance as Senate leadership works to schedule a cloture vote before the August recess.

Dusty Johnson, chairman of the House Agriculture Committee's digital assets subcommittee, stated that if the Senate takes up the bill, the House will act swiftly and compress its own procedural timeline to zero.

The bill, which sorts digital assets into three regulatory buckets using a cryptographic maturity or decentralization test, has already passed the House with 294-134 votes and been placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders as Calendar No. 423.

A key hurdle is the need for seven Democratic votes beyond those of Ruben Gallego and Angela Alsobrooks, who have already expressed support for the bill.
