Digital Assets Present New Challenges for Financial Advisors
The increasing relevance of digital assets in investment portfolios has created new challenges for financial advisors. The inherent volatility of cryptocurrencies can make it difficult for advisors to determine the optimal time to invest or sell.
According to Bill Birmingham, managing director at Osprey Funds, many advisors struggle with behavioral biases that lead them to sell during market drawdowns when they should be increasing exposure. This results in missed opportunities and reduced returns.
Birmingham suggests that indexing can help mitigate these issues by allowing advisors to capture asset-class-level returns through systematic rebalancing.
