Binance Withdraws Greek MiCA Application Amid EU Deadline Looms

Binance has withdrawn its application for a MiCA license in Greece, citing uncertainty and ambiguity in the approval process.

The decision comes as the EU's MiCA transitional period is set to end on July 1, 2026, requiring crypto asset service providers to obtain authorization or cease operations within the EU.

Binance had submitted its application in January 2026 and believed it would be approved before the deadline, but Greek regulators have been ambiguous about their decision, with some sources suggesting rejection.

The withdrawal of the application is a significant blow to Binance's plans for European expansion, as MiCA authorization allows service providers to operate across all 27 EU member states through an 'EU passport' mechanism.
