BNY Mellon CEO Robin Vince has expressed optimism about the future of cryptocurrency adoption, attributing its success to large financial institutions like his own company.
Vince made his comments during a conversation at the Digital Asset Summit in New York, where he discussed the role of banks in connecting digital assets with traditional finance. He pointed out that BNY Mellon has been a pioneer in offering digital asset custody and emphasized its position as an adoption vehicle for cryptocurrencies.
Tokenization is a key area of focus for the bank, according to Vince, who highlighted the creation of digital tokens representing traditional products such as money market funds. He also mentioned that existing systems in areas like loans and real estate may benefit from tokenization first.
