NYSE Arca Removes Limits on Crypto ETF Options, Boosts FLEX Trading
NYSE Arca has made significant changes to its regulations regarding Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. The exchange has removed the long-standing limit of 25,000 options contracts on these products, allowing them to be traded as FLEX options.
FLEX options enable traders to customize contract clauses, including strike prices, expiration dates, and exercise styles. This change eliminates the previous position aggregation rules tied to standard options limits, giving traders more flexibility when building complex positions strategies.
The SEC's fast-tracked approval of this proposal means that these changes have taken effect immediately. NYSE Arca has stated that this update does not create new risks or additional legal burdens, but rather supports its regulation framework in line with other exchanges.
By removing the 25,000-contract limit, NYSE Arca is positioning crypto ETF options to be used more broadly by institutions. This change could lead to increased liquidity and customization in the markets for these products.
