Poland's Cryptocurrency Regulation Law Stalls as Parliament Fails to Override Veto
Poland's cryptocurrency market remains in limbo as lawmakers were unable to defeat the presidential veto on a proposed regulation law.
The government's draft legislation aims to transpose EU rules into national law, but critics argue it goes beyond the European regulations. President Nawrocki has halted the adoption of the bill twice, citing concerns over overregulation and excessive burden on small businesses.
The lack of clear regulations creates an environment conducive to fraud, with Finance Minister Andrzej Domański warning that Poland is becoming 'El Dorado for fraudsters.' The government must comply with the EU's Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework by July, which currently only applies to 27 member states.
