Russia Bans Cryptocurrency Advertising Under New Regulatory Framework
The Russian government has announced plans to introduce new regulations that will prohibit the advertising of specific cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. This initiative is part of a broader effort to tighten control over digital assets and prevent mass-market popularization.
The Central Bank of Russia argues that cryptocurrencies are 'excessively volatile' assets, posing significant financial risks to retail investors. To address this issue, the regulator aims to sanitize public promotional spaces by prohibiting the use of specific brand names in advertising.
This move is not an isolated incident but part of a rigorous regulatory framework taking effect on July 1, 2026. The 'cooling-off period' for investors and stricter institutional-grade services are also being introduced as part of this new framework.
