US Military Deploys Bitcoin Node Amid Strategic Reserve Plans
The U.S. military has taken another step into the world of cryptocurrencies, announcing that it is running a Bitcoin node and conducting experimental tests on the network.
During a hearing before the House Armed Services Committee, Admiral Samuel Paparo revealed that the military has been operating a Bitcoin node, but emphasized that it is not being used for mining. Instead, the node is being utilized to monitor and conduct operational tests to protect networks that use the Bitcoin protocol.
The development comes as part of the U.S. plans to establish a Strategic BTC Reserve, which aligns with President Trump's vision for America to become the 'crypto capital of the world.'
Admiral Paparo noted that the military's interest in Bitcoin is driven by national security concerns and its potential use as a cryptographic tool to secure networks.
