Ethereum Foundation Launches Audit Subsidy Program to Boost Crypto Security

The Ethereum Foundation has launched the Audit Subsidy Program, a new initiative aimed at making smart contract security audits more accessible and affordable for developers in the ecosystem. The program is backed by a $1 million subsidy pool and is designed to lower financial barriers that have historically prevented many teams from undergoing comprehensive audits.

Through its partnerships with leading audit providers and ecosystem firms, including Nethermind, Chainlink Labs, and Areta, the foundation aims to streamline access to trusted security expertise across the ecosystem. The program includes over 20 top-tier audit firms and connects builders directly with these services through Areta's platform.

The Audit Subsidy Program is part of the Ethereum Foundation's broader Trillion Dollar Security Initiative, which focuses on strengthening the network as it scales to support increasingly complex applications and larger amounts of value on-chain. The initiative also includes a new framework called the 'CROPS principles,' short for censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security.
