US Imposes Sanctions on Cambodian Senator and Others for Crypto-Romance Scams
The US Treasury Department has announced sanctions against Cambodian senator Kok An and 28 individuals and entities for their alleged role in crypto-romance scams.
Kok An is accused of using his political connections to protect a network of scam centers, which targeted vulnerable Americans with promises of high returns on digital assets.
The Treasury Department said victims of human trafficking reported being taken to these compounds and forced to steal money from Americans under threat of violence.
