Kelp DAO Faces Ongoing Challenge in Recovering Lost Ethereum
Kelp DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), is still grappling with the aftermath of one of the largest DeFi exploits in 2026. The attack, which occurred through a compromised cross-chain setup, led to a significant shortfall across lending platforms.
The exploit involved minting unbacked tokens, resulting in a deficit of around 89,500 ETH. To address this issue, Kelp DAO is working with Aave and ecosystem partners to recover the losses tied to rsETH.
So far, around 73,700 ETH has been recovered, leaving roughly 15,800 ETH still missing. However, this number remains unresolved due to various factors.
