Tether, the company behind the world's largest stablecoin USDT, is expanding its focus beyond digital assets and financial infrastructure into advanced AI research. The company has introduced BrainWhisperer, an open-source artificial intelligence system designed to convert brain signals into text while keeping all neural data processing directly on local hardware.
The project, developed through QVAC, Tether's cross-platform software toolkit aimed at allowing developers to build and operate artificial intelligence applications directly on personal devices, represents a major expansion of Tether's technology ambitions. BrainWhisperer is designed to operate without sending sensitive brain activity data to external servers, aligning with the growing trend toward edge AI.
Tether's shift beyond stablecoins reflects its broader strategy to invest in emerging technologies such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, and more. By exploring new areas of technology, Tether is positioning itself at the intersection of AI and blockchain, where decentralized systems are becoming increasingly important.
