Ethereum has been on a wild ride over the past year, plummeting 62% from its all-time high of $4,954 in August last year. This has left investors wondering if Ethereum is still a value play or a classic value trap.
Co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently released a new 'Lean Ethereum' roadmap that outlines changes and upgrades aimed at reigniting growth over the next few years. The plan includes major upgrades to transaction processing speeds, reduction in complexity, and a focus on user privacy. Analysts see this as one of the biggest upgrades since the Merge in 2022.
However, some argue that these efforts may be too little, too late. Critics point out that Ethereum's architecture has become too complex, with most value now flowing to Layer-2 blockchains that sit atop the core Ethereum blockchain rather than the blockchain itself.
