LayerZero Wallets Hacked, $2.4M Stolen Across Multiple Chains

The LayerZero platform has been hit by a security breach that led to the theft of up to $2.4 million across multiple blockchain networks, including BNB Chain, Base, Ethereum, and others.

According to PeckShieldAlert data, the attackers exploited the LayerZero Core Executor wallets, which are crucial for transfer validation between chains. The stolen funds were then rapidly bridged to Ethereum, with assets totaling $322K in USDC and 956 ETH (approximately $1.79 million) being consolidated on the network.

The exploit highlights vulnerabilities in cross-chain interoperability, where executor wallets are high-value targets for attackers seeking to obfuscate their trail by utilizing multiple blockchain networks. The majority of drained tokens were converted into USDC and ETH to ensure liquidity while minimizing exposure to volatile assets.
