Buterin Unveils Zero-Knowledge Billboard Demo on Aztec Network

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has demonstrated an experimental application that combines zero-knowledge proofs, ETH deposits, and AI-powered content moderation on the Aztec Network.

The concept is a working prototype that allows users to post messages anonymously to a shared billboard while ensuring community policies are enforced without revealing the poster's identity.

The demo uses cryptographic methods called SNARKs (Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge) to prove something is true without revealing underlying information, similar to showing a bouncer your ID without them seeing your birthdate or address.

Aztec Network is a privacy-focused Layer 2 zkRollup built on Ethereum that enables confidential transactions and private smart contracts. Buterin's demo attempts to show that anonymous systems can have enforceable rules while maintaining user anonymity, which has been a contentious topic in the crypto space since US regulators sanctioned Tornado Cash.
