US Freezes $344 Million in Cryptocurrency Linked to Iran
The United States has taken another step in its efforts to curb Iran's financial capabilities by freezing $344 million in cryptocurrency assets.
According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the move is part of a broader strategy to systematically degrade Tehran's ability to generate, move, and repatriate funds.
The Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on multiple wallets tied to Iran, resulting in the freeze of these significant funds.
Bessent emphasized that his agency will continue to target both traditional sanctions evasion methods and newer technologies like digital assets.
