North Korean hackers have significantly increased their cryptocurrency theft operations, resulting in over $2 billion in losses in 2025.

This marks a 51% increase from the previous year and is attributed to more sophisticated techniques, including social engineering and insider involvement.

The stolen funds are being directly funneled into North Korea's weapons programs, according to the UN Sanctions Monitoring Team.
