AI Agents to Revolutionize Crypto Economy with Stablecoin Payments

Tether Co-Founder Reeve Collins has made a bold prediction about the future of the crypto economy. Speaking with analyst Michael van de Poppe, Collins stated that AI agents are on the verge of transforming stablecoins and crypto wallets.

Collins compared the impact of AI in blockchain to the introduction of web browsers in 1993, which made the internet more accessible to everyone. He envisions a future where users interact with their wallets through conversation rather than clicks, with AI agents handling investments, portfolio rebalancing, and payments on behalf of the user.

The infrastructure for this is already being built. Coinbase has launched Agentic Wallets, which give AI agents autonomous spending and trading capabilities. Stripe co-founder John Collison recently predicted a 'torrent' of AI agent commerce running on stablecoins, while Binance CEO Richard Teng identified AI agents and stablecoins as one of the defining trends of 2026.
