Ethereum Sees Record-Breaking Transaction Activity Amid Rising Address Poisoning Attacks
Ethereum's transaction activity has reached unprecedented levels, with over 3.62 million daily transactions recorded at the end of April. This surge in activity is largely attributed to the Glamsterdam upgrade, which significantly reduced gas fees.
The lowered fees have made it more accessible for users to engage in on-chain activities, but this increased traffic has also led to a rise in address poisoning attacks. These attacks involve malicious actors sending fake transactions to drain wallets.
Address poisoning is a type of attack where attackers send fake or low-value tokens to a wallet's address, making it difficult for users to distinguish between legitimate and malicious activity. This can result in the theft of significant amounts of cryptocurrency.
