$8M Crypto Heist: Texas Brothers Plead Guilty to Kidnapping, Robbery

Two Texas brothers, Isiah Angelo Garcia and Raymond Christian Garcia, have pleaded guilty to their roles in a brazen $8 million cryptocurrency robbery and kidnapping of a Minnesota family in September 2025. The brothers, both 24 and 25 years old, respectively, had traveled from Texas to Minnesota with the intention of executing the scheme.

On September 19, 2025, the Garcia brothers kidnapped Victim 1 and his family at gunpoint at their home in Grant, Minnesota. They demanded access to the victim's cryptocurrency accounts and zip-tied Victim 1 and his family, holding them at gunpoint for over eight hours. Isiah Garcia then abducted Victim 1 to a cabin in northern Minnesota, where he forced Victim 1 to retrieve additional cryptocurrency storage devices and transfer the funds.

The brothers ultimately transferred more than $8 million in cryptocurrency funds from the victim's accounts. After the victim's son called 911, the Garcias fled the area, but law enforcement was able to identify them using items left behind at the crime scene. They were arrested near Houston, Texas.

In their guilty pleas, both defendants admitted to using firearms to threaten the victims and facilitate the robbery. They agreed to pay over $8 million in restitution and each face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. Sentencing hearings will be scheduled at a later date.
