Vitalik Buterin Tests New Ethereum Privacy Protocol
Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin has taken a significant step in promoting user privacy on the network. He transferred 50.25 ETH (approximately $113,000) through Privacy Pools, a new protocol designed to balance user anonymity with anti-money laundering (AML) standards.
Launched by 0xbow.io on March 31, 2025, Privacy Pools employs zero-knowledge proofs to facilitate private transactions. However, the initial limit is set at $1 ETH per address to manage regulatory risks.
The successful transaction highlights the potential of this new protocol in bridging the gap between user privacy and regulatory compliance in the crypto space. As Privacy Pools continues to evolve, it plans to incorporate ERC-20 token support and additional compliance tools.
