Google Research Exposes Quantum Threat to Bitcoin Wallet Security

Google's Quantum AI team has made a groundbreaking discovery that has sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency market. According to their research, next-generation quantum computers pose a significant threat to Bitcoin wallet security.

The study reveals that advanced quantum computers could extract a Bitcoin private key from its public counterpart in approximately 9 minutes. This poses a significant risk to nearly one-third of the total Bitcoin supply, with around 6.9 million BTC remaining vulnerable due to permanently exposed public keys.

Cryptocurrencies designed with quantum resistance have seen dramatic price increases following the announcement, with QRL surging 51% and Algorand climbing 42%. However, not all industry voices share the sense of urgency, with some arguing that if quantum systems can compromise Bitcoin's encryption, the global financial system and internet infrastructure face identical vulnerabilities.
