US Congressman Advocates for Crypto Inclusion in Retirement Accounts

At the Miami Consensus 2026 conference, Congressman Steven Horsford reiterated his support for incorporating cryptocurrency assets into retirement accounts as a means to narrow the wealth gap. He emphasized that this initiative would not be rushed and may be introduced in separate bills.

The PARITY Act, a bipartisan bill co-authored by Horsford and Republican Congressman Max Miller, aims to clarify tax issues related to 'income' and 'capital gains' for scenarios such as selling digital assets, staking rewards, and lending. Horsford pointed out that the current federal tax law is outdated and the IRS struggles with processing tax forms for a massive number of crypto users.
