Bitcoin Surges Past $72,000 Amid Middle East Ceasefire
Bitcoin's value surged past the $72,000 mark in response to the fragile Middle East ceasefire, pushing the crypto market capitalization to over $2.51 trillion.
The 5% rally triggered significant liquidations of short bets on platforms like Bitget, with a total loss of over $477 million and an additional $181 million in losses for long positions.
Market analyst Gracy Chen notes that the market is split into two channels - the ETF channel providing institutional stability, and the spot and onchain market lacking the breadth and conviction needed for a major breakout. She predicts that Bitcoin may reach $80,000 if demand increases, but warns of potential downside pressure if the market fails to hold the $68,000 support level.
