Blanche Named Interim AG Amid Crypto Industry Controversy
Todd Blanche has been appointed as the interim Attorney General of the United States, following the removal of Attorney General Pam Bondi from the position by President Donald Trump. As deputy attorney general, Blanche had previously held a significant amount of cryptocurrency, which he transferred to his children and grandchildren before signing a memo limiting prosecutors' pursuit of regulatory violation cases in the crypto industry.
The memo, signed by Blanche in July 2025, ordered prosecutors not to pursue regulatory violation cases in the crypto industry. This decision was made despite Blanche's apparent conflict of interest, as he held between $159,000 and $485,000 in various cryptocurrencies at the time of signing the memo.
