Brazil's Finance Minister Dario Durigan has announced a temporary halt to the implementation of new cryptocurrency tax policies until after the presidential election in October 2026.

The decision is aimed at avoiding the introduction of 'controversial' tax reforms during an election year, according to sources close to the matter.

Initially, regulators and government officials had planned to launch a public consultation on cryptocurrency tax policies later this year. However, this plan may be postponed until 2027, although it remains on the agenda.
