Salinas Doubles Down on Bitcoin, Allocations Reach 70% of Portfolio
Ricardo Salinas, a Mexican billionaire and founder of Grupo Salinas, has doubled down on his bet that Bitcoin will become a superior long-term store of value. He claims that roughly 70% of his investment portfolio is allocated to the digital asset.
In an interview, Salinas compared traditional fiat currencies to 'a fraud' due to their historical devaluation and increasing burdened by taxes, maintenance costs, and illiquidity. In contrast, he sees Bitcoin as offering scarcity, portability, and stronger long-term appreciation.
This is not the first time Salinas has advocated for holding Bitcoin; in 2018, when asked what asset to hold for the next 30 years, he replied unequivocally: 'No stinky FIAT for a reason. I would take bitcoin.'
