Quantum Risk: Not All Crypto Wallets Equally Vulnerable
The potential for quantum computers to break encryption and compromise cryptocurrency wallets has long been a topic of discussion in the industry.
However, a recent report by Galaxy Digital suggests that not all wallets are equally at risk, with most vulnerable only when public keys are exposed on-chain.
Galaxy Digital research analyst Will Owens noted that the primary way wallets are exposed is through either already visible public keys or those revealed at the time of spending.
Owens also found evidence to contradict claims that Bitcoin Core developers are ignoring proposals related to quantum vulnerabilities, citing an acceleration in proposal development since late 2025.
