Ronaldo's Name Used in Fake Cryptocurrency Promotion on Social Media
Cristiano Ronaldo's name has been used in a fake cryptocurrency promotion on social media. The scam involves a blockchain-backed token called 'United States Water Reserve' (USWR), which claims to allow investors to own shares in the US water reserve.
A video spreading online appears to show Ronaldo urging fans to invest in USWR, with the caption claiming he said: 'I'm not a big investment advice kind of guy, but if you put every dollar you have into USWR, you'll be very happy at the end of July.'
However, experts have found that the video has been altered from an interview where Ronaldo made no mention of financial tips. The audio has been replaced with a fake message promoting the token.
The clips direct viewers to check out the website uswr.ai, which claims the investment is federally secured. However, experts warn that this claim is likely false and that investors should be cautious of possible scams.
