AI-generated images used in XRP Las Vegas romance scams

Attendees of the XRP Las Vegas conference are being targeted by scammers using AI-generated images of attractive women.

The scammers, also known as 'pig butchers,' use fake photos and AI face-swapping to build an emotional connection with their victims before asking for cryptocurrency donations or investments. This tactic is part of a larger trend in romance scams that have resulted in significant losses worldwide.

Ripple has issued repeated scam warnings to its community, including a warning about deepfake livestreams after its Swell conference last year. The company has also flagged fake social media accounts and partnerships in the past.
