Spacecoin Aims to Revolutionize Space-Based Data Centers
Spacecoin is a satellite-based decentralized internet network that seeks to solve the critical bottleneck of reliable and open communications in space-based data centers. By deploying a blockchain-enabled satellite constellation in low-Earth orbit, Spacecoin aims to provide a shared layer for the orbital economy.
The project addresses the issue of terrestrial choke points by decentralizing the network, ensuring no single service provider or government controls access. This infrastructure could also solve the crisis on Earth, where traditional terrestrial connectivity leaves approximately 2.6 billion people offline.
Spacecoin has deployed physical infrastructure, launching its first satellite in December 2024 and facilitating the world's first end-to-end blockchain transaction through space in October 2025. The network expanded with three additional satellites in November 2025, enabling testing of intersatellite links, a technology allowing satellites to exchange data directly.
