Tether's Strategic Investments in Kaio and Antalpha
Tether, the issuer of the widely-used stablecoin USDT, has made strategic investments in two companies: Kaio and Antalpha. These investments are aimed at extending Tether's influence beyond its core business.
Kaio is a UAE-focused platform that builds onchain asset distribution infrastructure. It recently announced a strategic funding round backed by Tether, which raised $8 million from the stablecoin issuer and Systemic Ventures. The operations of Kaio will be targeted towards the UAE market.
Tether has also acquired a significant position in Antalpha, a Bitcoin-ecosystem financial services company. According to recent reporting, this stake represents an 8.2% ownership interest in Antalpha.
The dual-investment structure suggests that Tether is executing a deliberate capital allocation strategy rather than making opportunistic one-off bets. This move allows Tether to position itself across two distinct layers of crypto infrastructure: institutional onramp problem-solving and Bitcoin-native financial services.
