Australia Introduces New Crypto Regulation Framework with AFSL License
Australia's financial watchdog has introduced a licensing scheme targeting cryptocurrency exchanges and custodians, marking a significant milestone in the country's crypto regulation space.
The new legislation requires all digital asset exchange platforms to obtain an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL), providing stronger consumer protection and stability for the growing industry.
The law does not regulate cryptocurrencies themselves but rather focuses on the companies that manage them, aiming to prevent issues such as mixing client money or bankruptcy.
