Bhutan Sells Off Significant Portion of Its Bitcoin Reserves
Bhutan has been undergoing a significant change in its cryptocurrency portfolio, with the country selling off its Bitcoin reserves in recent months.
According to official records, Bhutan has sold nearly $206.98 million worth of Bitcoin since the start of 2026, with the latest transaction involving the movement of 100 BTC worth $7.83 million from its holding wallets.
This development is notable given Bhutan's previous reputation for state-backed Bitcoin mining and long-term holding. The country's decision to sell off its BTC reserves has sparked concerns about a potential shift in its crypto strategy, with some predicting that it could fully exit its holdings by October if sales continue at this pace.
